Blisters

Blisters are small pockets of fluid within the upper layers of the skin, they are typically caused by forceful rubbing (friction) from badly fitting shoes or exercise.

They can also occur when your feet get hot and perspire, making your socks (or tights) stick to your feet. The sock and foot then rub against each other and the inside of the shoe causing the blister.

Most blisters are filled with a clear fluid called serum. However, sometimes they can be filled with blood, these are known as blood blisters, or they can become infected causing it to be filled with pus.

It is important that you leave the blister alone, most of the time the fluid will reabsorb and then heal on its own. A blister plaster can help cover up and protect it reducing the chance of infection. If it does becomes infected please visit your doctor.

Prevention is better than cure as the saying goes and we have many products that can help stop blisters occurring, whilst protecting blisters if you were too late!
